# Provider connectors

# Provider connectors

DreamLayer includes strict connector interfaces for supported providers. Public marketing compatibility includes ComfyUI, OpenAI, Black Forest Labs, Ideogram, fal, Replicate, and DreamLayer Agent API.

## What this lets you do

Use a supported provider account while keeping its key in the local server process.

## What you need

* A running DreamLayer clone
* A provider account and key
* A connector supported by the installed runtime version

## Steps

### 1. Configure a key

```bash theme={null}
./dreamlayer configure --name OPENAI_API_KEY
```

The command stores the value in local server configuration. Do not pass provider keys through prompts, URLs, client code, or browser storage.

### 2. Select execution explicitly

Select a connector and model directly, or choose a local orchestrator that evaluates only the visible configured catalog. DreamLayer Agent API is never a hidden local fallback.

## Confirm it worked

`./dreamlayer doctor --json` reports the connector as configured, and a small test turn reaches a visible terminal state.

## Common errors

Connector support means the transport implements its public request contract. It does not imply that every provider model, checkpoint, custom node set, or hardware combination has been validated.

## Troubleshooting

Check the connector name, local key configuration, provider account status, and published model support. DreamLayer Agent API is never a hidden local fallback.
